Asian Film Academy (AFA) is an educational program hosted by Dongseo University, Busan Film commission and Busan International Film Festival to foster emerging filmmakers and establish Asian filmmaker's network. Young talents from all over the Asia attend various programs mentored by the established filmmakers. For past 8 years, 194 alumni from 29 countries graduated from AFA. Each year, they had unique experience of learning from established filmmakers in contemporary cinema such as Krzysztof Zanussi (Poland), Abbas Kiarostami (Iran), Kurosawa Kiyoshi (Japan), Im Kwon-taek (Korea), Mohsen Makhmalbaf (Iran), Hou Hsiao Hsien (Taiwan) and JIA Zhangke(China).
