Aiess Alonso is an activist and graduated Film from the University of the Philippines Film Institute. She was a scholar in Film and Media Program of India Study Abroad Center in Mumbai. She participated in the Hanoi Talent Campus in 2012 and Fantastic Film School of the Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival in 2013. "Katapusang Labok," her thesis film, has been invited to various film festivals. It exposes the struggles of the fisherfolks through the language and culture of her hometown Cebu. Aiess has fully understood that filmmaking is the only way she knows how she can put her love into practice and serve the people.
