Zurich Chan is an independent filmmaker based in Zamboanga City. Growing up in a video rental store for 10 years, this has been his basis into writing scripts and his visual style. His major influences are the works of Stanley Kubrick, Wong Kar Wai, Park Chan-wook and Christopher Nolan. The nature of his filmmaking delves into topics of loneliness and existentialism. According to him, his journey into filmmaking is looking for the true meaning of loneliness in any shape, form or situation because, accordingly, all of us are really and truly just separate beings who are, in this world, essentially alone. Writing all his scripts in Chavacano, combined with his unique visual style makes his films nothing less but different.
