An English Literature graduate, Maaria Sayed studied Filmmaking at London Film School in United Kingdom. She worked in various capacities as producer and production designer. Her short film, Aabida which she wrote and directed, was screened at over 20 international film festivals including Izmir Kisa Film Fesitval in Turkey and Women's Australian Film Festival in Sydney. The film has received four awards in the best film and best actress category over the span of its 2 year run. Thereafter, Maaria lived in Singapore where she directed her feature hybrid documentary Wai Guo Ren is currently in post-production. She co-founded a production company, Draw4Films based in Mumbai in 2014. Her most recent directorial venture is Chudala; co-production between Draw4Films and Drishyam Films and is currently awaiting its festival release.
