Filipino filmmaker Carl Chavez was involved in theater productions before ever working as a writer and producer in the film industry. His breakthrough short film Sorry for the Inconvenience (2017) is a coming-of-age story set in the oppressive patriarchy of downtown Manila. The film has been recognized by the country′s most prestigious award-giving bodies, including the FAMAS and URIAN, and has been screened at film festivals like Cinemalaya, Cinema One Originals and the Shanghai Queer Film Festival. Chavez is currently developing his first feature film, @babyboy, about a young man′s sexual awakening in the post-truth world. He graduated as a scholar from the Office of Culture and Arts in De La Salle - College of Saint Benilde with a degree in Digital Filmmaking.
