After acquiring degree in architecture at Hokkaido University, Eiji moved to the USA to learn filmmaking in USC Summer Production, Los Angeles. His second short film, Hands, was nominated in American Short Shorts Film Festival in Japan in 2001, and introduced in Korea and Brazil as well. With a strong desire to establish a base for short filmmakers in Japan, he established an independent short film production, Max Core Room Project, and he has been making short films. In 2003 his short, 6 PM, was awarded BEST MINI-SHORT, as a first Japanese prize-winner at the California Independent Film Festival. After ten years of short filmmaking, now he prepares for his first feature film.
