Sharofat Arabova graduated with honors in Cultural Studies at Russian-Tajik (Slavic) University in 2006. Based on her university thesis she wrote a book 『Documentaries in Tajik culture of XX century』 that got published in 2007. Same year she received an ICCR (Indian Council for Cultural Relations) scholarship to study PG Diploma in Film Direction at Film and Television Institute of India (FTII). Her second year film project Flying High received Tata Institute of Social Science award for Best incorporation of Production Design with Director's imagination and Jury Special Mention Certificate in Third Arthouse Film Festival in Kyrgyzstan. She is interested in filmmaking as well as film criticism, costume and production design and book illustration.
