Hamza Bangash is a Pakistani-Canadian writer, director, and producer based in Karachi. His short film Dia (2018) had its world premiere at Locarno, following a critically-acclaimed tour over a dozen of festivals. He is an alumnus of the Locarno Filmmakers Academy 2019 and of the inaugural Talents from Afghanistan-Pakistan Fellowship by Prince Claus Fund and Goethe Institute (2017–2018). His current project is a feature film adaptation of Dia (2018) in which a young woman navigates caring for her autistic brother while discovering her burgeoning sexuality in a repressive society.
